Two Construction Workers

As the wind repeatively transitions from slight breeze to a quiet yet stern whisper of a gust, the clock reaches a uniformly time of 8:20 in the morning, a shining white Ford truck encrusted with the logo of the Buena Park towing a small trailer not even reaching the size of the trunk bed, with its use to store and mobilize power comes driving into the neighborhood. It finds itself parked in front of a two-story beige house with not a car to be seen on the driveway nor in front of the house. As the engine of the truck sits after being parked and turned off, two men jump out of each side of the vehicle, one from the driver seat and the other from the passenger seat. The man from the drive side wore a baby blue long sleeved shirt that had impressions of an undergarment piercing through the shirt, to imply he was layered in the top portion of clothes he was wearing. With no headgear on ones able to almost see a reflection off his bald head from a distance. Being equipped with bright white gloves almost reaching the same color as the truck, baggy and faded navy blue jeans, and heavy brown shoes with the color close enough to be compared to wet dirt he walks towards the backend of the truck to meet his other co-worker. The other man, also not wearing any headgear, has short brown head of hair, wearing a faded navy blue sweatshirt almost as in the same color as the driver’s jeans with a similar long sleeve shirt hanging out under. The pants and even the shoes also are the same as the driver. The man from the passenger’s side reaches and pulls out an industrial orange jack hammer while the drive places bright orange and white reflective barricades around a concrete tile. As the man from the passenger side gets prepared to use the jackhammer the driver takes a step back. The loud poundings of the jackhammer onto the concrete could be heard well over the ominous bird chirping or the sound of passing cars from the mainstreet not too far away. As the jackhammer periodically turns on and off for about 10 second periods, the driver picks up the 2x2 size of concrete created each time either tosses it in as a basketball into the bed of the truck, or walks over and places it in. This uniform routine transpired for the 15 minutes I was watching.

As the man from the passenger side of the car works with the jackhammer, the drive waits to place the concrete piece within the bed of the truck.
